Tsitsikamma Crystal Cares
We Save Rhinos
2013 was the worst year recorded for rhino poaching with a total of 1004 rhinos poached in South Africa alone – a massive increase on 2012’s total of 448. Therefore in March 2014 Tsitsikamma Crystal decided to help save rhinos by donating per bottle sold to the Greater Kruger Environmental Protection Forum (GKEPF) for rhino protection.
Less plastic… less impact
Not only is bottled water the healthiest beverage option for your body, it is also the best packaged beverage option for the environment because it has the lightest environmental footprint of all packaged beverages. All our preforms and bottles are manufactured at the source, reducing transport and related carbon emissions. Tsitsikamma Crystal continually strives to further shrink its carbon footprint, and recently all label sizes were reduced and the 5L bottle light-weighted (22% less plastic).
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is 100% recyclable and can be used over and over. We fund recycling initiatives and infrastructure through PETCO, whose goal it is to reduce the environmental impact of post-consumer PET on the South African landscape. PETCO supports existing and encourages new PET collection and recycling networks and promotes consumer education and awareness programmes. Thanks to PETCO, South Africa has one of the highest audited PET recycling rates in the world (67% of all PET bottles compared to 40% of glass bottles are recycled).
