Plastic Bottles Are Not Trash

Published May 27, 2019 07:30

The PETCO story of how a bottle is recycled back into a bottle.

PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) plastic is a sophisticated material that can be turned back into bottles through a rigorous and technologically advanced process of recycling.

The process starts with collection. From there, the collected bottles get compacted into bales of PET bottles, which makes them economical to transport to the plant. Here, the bottles are sorted, flaked and washed, and then extruded and pelletised in a completely enclosed process to ensure it is 100% hygienic for use again as a food-grade product.

Bottle2bottle recycling is now truly closing the loop. Plastic Bottles Are Not Trash.
